A Interview with real life Chocolate B & B Bride

Bride & Groom Names: Alba & Jorge Morales-Romero

Location & date of wedding: Casa Diego (San Juan, Puerto Rico) December 21st 2008

Describe your WedStyle : My husband and I are basically a couple of eclectic geeks (our style ranges from goth, to metal-head, to geeky, to rockabilly) and we don't like traditional white weddings, so I made sure I planned every element to our liking (basically, I bought most of the wedding elements online and didn't listen to any advice telling me what I had or didn't have to do in my wedding day). And being that Puerto Rico is pretty conservative when it comes to weddings, ours rocked and even the staff of the venue kept coming over to take a peek at our shindig!

Our favorite moment: The fact that we got away using our dog Lucy as the ring bearer and had my brother in law and his life partner as best men (both pretty unheard of here in PR), wearing a rocking red dress, my little brother giving me away, and ending the reception with a karaoke group rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody!

Wedding advice to Brides 2 Be: Just be true to yourselves every step of the way, and remember that this is just one day, it will go in a blur so have fun!
The best part of being married: Even though we had lived together for a year before we got married, signing that paper has given our relationship that special edge, a sort of coming full circle. We are each other's best friends, and there's nothing better in the world than knowing you will have each other's backs forever.

Thank you again for the beautiful flowers!
Alba

My latest creation ...

Whew! I've been so busy that I havent had the chance to really sit down and write, so I thought I would just share with you pics from the wedding I am working on now. Here's the white & ivory calla lily & roses bouquet. The smaller pictures is the toss bouquet & the grooms boutineere. I wasn't exactly sure if these colors would look good together but amazingly, I think they flow well together. What do you think?

Quote of the Week!

Alfred Adler:

We only regard those unions as real examples of love and real marriages in which a fixed and unalterable decision has been taken. If men or women contemplate an escape, they do not collect all their powers for the task. In none of the serious and important tasks of life do we arrange such a "getaway." We cannot love and be limited.

Happy Valentine's Day!

DIY Fresh Flower Wedding Bouquets!

Ok as I write this, I knew many of you would say wow...Quiana must have had a change of heart towards having a fresh flower bouquet! And actually I would say no because I love fresh flowers... all types: roses, peonies, lilies and especially gardenias! However, considering my business, I am also a strong supporter of artificial flowers (duh! lol.) I just happen to have a different perspective on weddings in general, because I view them as an investment and some of your wedding decisions should be made with that in mind. Instead of spending 1,500 for flowers that will likely not survive the nights festivities, look into investing your money in artificial flowers that can be used in your home for many years to come!

BUT since I'm so not anti-fresh flowers lol, I wanted to share a pretty cheap way to have your fresh bouquet without the cost. 1-800 flowers, the same company many use to send special occasion florals to coworkers & family, has a great set-up. Many
of the flower arrangements can be repurposed into a bridal bouquet. With a few pretty ribbons, you can have you bouquet for less than $70 dollars. And considering that great price, you'll have more money to invest in your future with your hubby!
