The Secret is You Gotta Coordinate – or maybe not!

In the HILARIOUS movie Boomerang, Pops made a point to teach his sons friend , who was also a notorious ladies man, how to stay up on his fashion game. The key was to “coordinate” aka keep everything matching . He was serious about his fashion sense, the mushroom printed shirt, matched the mushroom belt – that also matched the mushroom printed lining in the suit jacket! Now that’s stylin’ lol. Keep in mind, Pops is old school – And in those days , the more you matched the more “put together” you looked. But in these modern times, where the rules for fashion & weddings are being broken on a worldwide scale – things have changed rapidly. Brides have said goodbye to the extra matching, cloned bridal party dresses and welcomed things that truly coordinate- meaning they fit the same style, color or overall feel of the wedding! Here's how you can get in on the ever-evolving trend!

Bridesmaids Dresses Ideas

Same Dress, Different Shades

Same Color, Different Styles

Different Dresses, Various Shades of Wedding Colors

Same Style, Dresses Done Differently

Suspenders, Socks, Hats, Shoelaces & Neckties also unify the Groom and Groomsmens look.

Add in Non Matching Accessories too --

Black Lace Hose

Vintage Hats

And the easiest way to do is in the shoes!

4 eyed brides----I see you!

The one thing I worried about the most about besides gaining or losing tons of weight for my dress ---was my spectacles/eyeglasses. It wasn't even an option whether I would rock my glasses --that was like a ABSOLUTE HELL TO THE NAW for me. Not that I hate glasses @ all but after 20+ years of HAVING NO CHOICE of wearing glasses, I exercised my Godgiven right not to go bare-eyed on my wedding day! lol

So I went to my optician and ordered my second pair of contacts( my first was freshman year in highschool - go figure) and went bare-eyed the entire day!
Whew :-) You couldn't tell me I wasn't cute either- I could actually see my own eye makeup! Unfortunately, contacts on a regular basis isn't an option for me because my eyes don't make enough tears to begin with and contacts tend to make it worse. But on that special day, I could see just fine and I was glasses free--- which tickled my fancy!

But to the rest of my four eye friends who are still debating the topic, you CAN still be sexy wearing your glasses on your wedding day, trust me-- Here's proof, no need for Lasik!

Death to the Birdcage Veil! Seriously...

As of today, I am REALLY getting tired of birdcage veils. Now, don't give me wrong- I am very aware they look absolutely fabu, modern & vintage all in the same rip (hell i even wore one lol) but now i'm just sick of seeing them.

For almost the past 8 years!- the birdcage veil has been all the rage- ever since the release of the movie "sweet home alabama" reintroduced them to the masses. So it got me to thinking, about bridal headpeices again - what would look fab and totally set you apart from the flock of bird(cage) veils! (lol). Here's my top choices- in no particular order!

Utilize a feather headband (Wendy Louise Designs)...

recreate a vintage look

or a modernly vintage bride (Doir ad campaign)

Wear a lovely bow ...

or a chapeaux (Maggie Mae Designs)

Add a little understated sparkle...

or a lot of sparkle! (Stephanie Browne Couture Jewelry collection)

Be a queen(Wilsdom African Designs)...

Or a Lovebird! (Topsy Turvy Designs)

Wedding Fly by KFleye

There's Fly and then there's KFleye! Thanks to Facebook, I've been able to keep up with the Fleye girl herself, Ms Kelley Moseley from Kfleye Jewelry & Accessories. Kelley creates gorgeous, handcrafted limited edition jewelry that is truly unique. Her line includes geometric cuffs, shoulder duster earring and loc & hair ornaments just to name a few. I can't remember how I came across her work, but I can say she has been someone I have admired from afar for their style & sisterpuerner skills.

But this week, I'm loooking through her pics on her fanpage and I was floored- I mean literally I had goosebumps! She created a wedding veil for a bride from BRASS WIRE! Okkkkkkkkk.....(diva voice). My heart swooned seriously. She also created a bird cage where the veil was suspended inside! Its that not the bomb?! I think i've already know what Im using when i renew my vows in 7 years lol. Here's the pics below. For more information on Kfleye you can visit her at www.kfleye.com or you can watch her tomorrow on Heart & Soul at 6PM on Channel 7 (ABC)!

My bride from Philly...

Just wanted to share what I've been up to - I just finished creating some fabu flowers for my bride from Philly. She is wearing a hot silver dress with black meshing on top- so the white & silver flowers will complement her dress and her red hair! I crafted her bouquet, hair flower and the grooms bout from the calla lilies/roses & the bridesmaid & groosman flowers were made from the wooden rosebuds. We'll have to wait a while to see her professional pics but I'll keep you posted ;-)
